Making Garlic Pickled Peppers

By Lesia

Garlic pickled peppers are a very popular pickle that can be a perfect accompaniment to meat dishes, sandwiches or just as a snack. Here is a simple recipe that you can make at home:

Ingredients:

1 kg of peppers (can be TV peppers, caper peppers or hot peppers)
5-6 cloves of garlic
5 dl water
2 dl 10% vinegar
2 tablespoons of sugar
1 tablespoon of salt
1 teaspoon of whole pepper
2-3 bay leaves (optional)
Preparation:

Preparing the peppers:
Wash the peppers thoroughly.
If using larger peppers, cut them in half or quarters.
Smaller peppers can be left whole.

To make the vinegar:
In a large saucepan, combine the water, vinegar, sugar and salt.
Add the whole pepper and bay leaf (if using).
Bring the juice to a boil, then remove from the heat.

To prepare the peppers:
Peel the garlic cloves and cut them into thin slices.
Layer the peppers and garlic in sterilized jars.
Pour the vinegar over the peppers until they are completely covered.
Seal the jars and turn them upside down until they cool.
Tips:

If you want a spicier pepper, add a few rings of hot, pointed pepper.
You can also vary the taste of the pickle with other spices, such as coriander seeds or mustard seeds.
You can also roast or grill the peppers beforehand if you want a smokier flavor.
Pickles are best when left to stand for at least a few days to allow the flavors to meld.
Important:

Sterilize jars and lids thoroughly to prevent spoilage.
Store pickles in a cool, dark place.
Enjoy your meal!
