By Vitia

Do you have boxes of lenses accumulated and don’t know what to do with them? Don’t throw them away! With a little creativity and a few simple materials, you can transform those boxes into useful and stylish objects for your home.

Here are two wonderful ideas for upcycling eyeglass boxes: a stone-effect box and an elegant jewelry storage box.

1. Elegant Stone Effect Box

This little box is perfect for storing crochet hooks or other small objects. Its stone effect design will give a rustic and sophisticated touch to any space.

Materials Needed:

  • Lens Box
  • Egg carton
  • White tail
  • Light grey and dark grey PVA paint
  • Clear Varnish
  • Feet of iron (or other material of your choice)
  • Artificial leaves and an artificial rose for decoration

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Base:
    • Cut the egg carton into small pieces and mix them with white glue until it forms a thick paste.
    • Apply this paste to the outer surface of the lens box, covering it completely. Let dry.
  2. Apply the Paint:
    • Once the egg carton paste is dry, paint the box with light grey PVA paint. Let dry.
    • Apply a second coat of dark gray PVA paint, using a sponge to create a stone-textured effect. Let dry again.
  3. Varnish:
    • Apply a coat of clear varnish over the entire painted surface to protect the paint and give it a glossy finish.
  4. Add the Feet and Decorations:
    • Place the iron feet on the bottom of the box for stability.
    • Decorate the lid with artificial leaves and an artificial rose, gluing them together with white glue or hot glue.

2. Elegant Sequin Box

This little box, ideal for storing jewelry or small treasures, will add a touch of elegance to any space with its bright and sophisticated design.

Materials Needed:

  • Lens Box
  • Gold Sequin Ribbon
  • Hot glue
  • Plastic Christmas balls (for little feet)
  • Metal ball to decorate the front of the box
  • Cotton and acetone (for cleaning)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Box:
    • Clean the lens case with cotton and acetone to make sure the surface is free of dust and grease.
  2. Cover with Sequin Tape:
    • Apply hot glue to small sections of the box and glue the gold sequin ribbon, covering the entire outer surface.
  3. Add the Feet and Decorations:
    • Glue the plastic Christmas balls to the bottom of the box to use as little feet.
    • Decorate the front of the box with a metal ball, sticking it with hot glue.
  4. Finish:
    • Make sure all the sequins are securely adhered and adjust any details that need to be corrected.
