How to prepare toasted watermelon seeds: delicious and rich in nutrients
Watermelon is one of summer’s favorite fruits: tasty, hydrating and refreshing, it is mostly made up of water and offers numerous health benefits.
Watermelon seeds are almost always discarded, which are actually one of the most interesting parts of the fruit. Watermelon seeds are low in calories and high in nutrients, and can be eaten in many different ways.
Toasted watermelon seeds are simple to prepare. Simply heat the oven to 160°C, place the seeds on a baking tray and cook them for about 15 minutes. The seeds will become golden and crunchy.
To flavor them you can season them with olive oil and salt or, for sweet preparations, sprinkle a little cinnamon or powdered sugar.
Roasted watermelon seeds are particularly rich in magnesium and iron, but they are also an excellent source of healthy fats (monounsaturated and polyunsaturated) and many other nutrients.
