Elderflowers: their wonderful properties and how to use them

Cold
Elderflowers are excellent for relieving cold symptoms, but also allergy symptoms. To enjoy their benefits, prepare a herbal tea by pouring two tablespoons of fresh or dried elderflowers into 250 ml of boiling water.
Leave the flowers to infuse for 10 minutes, then filter and sweeten with honey before drinking.
Cholesterol
Elderflower herbal tea is also effective in lowering triglyceride and bad cholesterol levels, thanks to their quercetin content.
Antioxidants
Elderflowers contain vitamin C, which protects the skin and other organs from oxidative stress, which causes conditions such as cancer, diabetes and heart disease.
Skin
With elderflowers it is possible to prepare an effective cream to promote the healing of cuts and wounds, but also to speed up the healing of chapped skin.
Mix well 6 parts liquid petroleum jelly with 3 parts fresh elderflower. Heat over a low heat until the flowers “melt”, then filter the mixture and leave to cool. Store the healing cream in the fridge, in a sterilized glass jar with an airtight seal.
