Homemade Cordon Bleus A Delight
Cordon bleus, almost everyone likes them! So yes, it’s true that the desire to do things as quickly as possible sometimes leads us to go buy ready-made ones at the supermarket, but one look at the composition and we quickly understand that nothing beats a cordon bleu made by our little hands!
Ingredients
- 2 pieces of chicken
- 4 slices of fontina, not too thick
- 4 slices of white ham
- 2 eggs
- Breadcrumbs
- Frying oil
- Salt and pepper
Preparation
- To make the cordon bleu you must start by cutting the chicken breasts in half, so as to obtain 2 more or less equal pieces, taking care to remove the fatty parts of the meat. Once you have done this, cut the chicken pieces lengthwise along the edge. The cut must be made in such a way as to leave one of the two longer sides of the cordon bleu closed in order to be able to stuff them.
- Once you have created this opening, you can stuff the cordon bleu. The stuffing is made by wrapping a slice of ham over a piece of cheese that fits into the chicken in the cut you made previously.
- This operation must be repeated for the 4 cords. Then take a bowl in which you have to beat the eggs with the salt and a pinch of pepper and put the necessary breadcrumbs on a tray. First dip the cordon bleu in the egg and then coat with the breadcrumbs, making sure to cover them well.
- You can finally fry your cordon bleu after blocking the “open” side in which you have inserted the ham and cheese with toothpicks, to prevent the inside from coming out during cooking. Then soak them in oil that has been preheated but which does not exceed 170 degrees and let them fry for around 9 minutes, turning them once halfway through cooking.
