Ants in the House, What to Do? 8 Ways to Keep Them Away

By liliaturcin5

We know it only too well: one ant can hide 100 others… We all have in our heads (or before our eyes!) this image of a colony of insects moving in single file! So, how can you prevent and combat an ant invasion, naturally?

1 – LEMON

Lemon also has repellent properties. Pour a little lemon juice where ants are passing and place lemon peels in window corners or sills.

2 – CINNAMON

Do you normally use it to enhance your dishes? Please note that it repels ants just as well as lavender. An option not to be overlooked!

3 – ESSENTIAL OILS

Known for the intensity of their scent, essential oils are not only healing. They can also hunt ants. You just have to spray a mixture of half a liter of water, with around twenty drops of peppermint and around ten drops of sweet almond.

4 – COFFEE GROUNDS

By placing it at the bottom of the walls, on the ground or on saucers, the coffee grounds and their acidity will prevent the invasion of ants.

5 – CHALK

Here is a natural remedy against ants. Did you know that ants are not fans of chalk? So, don’t wait to make an ant dam. How ? It’s quite simple. All you need to do is make a chalk line. It’s certain, the ants don’t cross the line and you have peace of mind.

6 – VINEGAR

A very good ant repellent. You just need to spray the area frequented by the ants with water and vinegar or water and soap, this will prevent the ants from moving around.

7 – BLACK SOAP

Multi-use, black soap is unconditional in the garden and at home because it is, among other things, the enemy of ants but also of mealybugs and even aphids. To permanently eliminate ants, it is necessary to dilute the black soap in boiling water according to the dosage indicated by the manufacturer, clearly on the packaging. Then simply pour this still very hot mixture onto the ant nest or colony.

8 – SPRINKLE DIATOMEA EARTH

This fine white powder, composed of fossilized micro-algae fossils, is a natural and effective insecticide. At home, do not hesitate to sprinkle a little on the places where ants pass. The sharp particles of diatomaceous earth will cause fatal injuries to them. Please note, however, that this product can be used with bare hands and is not dangerous for pets.
