Here’s How to Use Cloves to Get Rid of Toothache and Relieve Cavity Pain
Do you have a toothache? It’s not always easy to quickly get an appointment with the dentist. And a toothache is so painful! Fortunately, there is still some good news. While waiting to get the life-saving appointment with the dentist, there is an effective grandmother’s remedy to combat toothache.
Why is clove effective against dental pain?
- It is thanks to eugenol, its active ingredient, which gives off this characteristic smell of the dentist’s office.
- It has an anti-inflammatory and analgesic action which helps to reduce tooth sensitivity (while waiting to consult a dentist).
- Using whole cloves for toothache
- If the pain is not severe and you can chew, then try chewing cloves.
Instructions
- The first thing to do is rinse your mouth with warm salt water (this will help your salivation).
- Put two or three cloves in your mouth, near the area that hurts, and wait a few minutes until the cloves soften from your saliva.
- When they are soft, chew them gently (as long as your toothache allows).
- You will know the oil has been released when you feel a bitter taste and a tingling sensation on your tongue and gums.
- Once this happens, you can spit out the cloves and rinse with lukewarm water. The pain-relieving effect should last for a few hours and the bitter taste should disappear within ten minutes.
Tips to avoid toothache
- In addition to brushing your teeth after each meal, it is recommended to use interdental brushes or a water flosser.
- An annual visit to the dentist allows dental problems to be detected and treated at a stage that is not yet painful.
