How to get rid of bathroom urine smell naturally?

By liliaturcin5

The bathroom is one of the busiest rooms in the house. But it is also the one that accumulates the most dirt and mold, due to the high concentration of humidity that prevails in this environment. Of course, you should not skimp on its maintenance and clean it regularly and effectively. The problem, despite thorough cleaning, is that this area is still infested with unpleasant odors. You often notice annoying odors escaping from the bathroom to perfume other rooms in the house. There are many culprits: pipes, tartar, humidity, fungi, urine…

Fortunately, to overcome this problem, there is a list of natural and ecological solutions capable of not only deodorizing the room, but also offering it a delicately scented freshness. How to eliminate the smell of urine and other unpleasant fumes that plague the bathroom? Here are some simple and practical tips to apply as often as possible.

Here’s how to get rid of urine odor

If you want to eliminate this smell, we recommend preparing this homemade air freshener. Nothing could be easier and faster!

You will need:

cinnamon powder
  • Zest of orange, lemon, mandarin or grapefruit
  • A medium glass container such as a bowl
  • 1 tablespoon cloves
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • A piece of cloth
  • A rubber band, thread or rubber band

Place the citrus peels (you can choose just one or mix several) into the medium-sized container. Pour the tablespoon of cinnamon   over the zest. Then add the tablespoon of cloves to the bowl. Once all the ingredients are together, mix well and cover the container with the small piece of cloth. On top of the fabric, place the elastic or thread so that it is securely attached to the container and air can pass through.

You can decorate the container before installing it in your bathroom. After two weeks, consider changing the content by repeating the same process.

You realize very quickly that bad smells are no longer relevant!

Here are other tips for making your bathroom smell great

Your bathroom can smell bad for various reasons, including excess humidity that occurs when we use the bathtub or shower. This generates fungi, mold and encrustations on the walls. Hence the persistence of unpleasant odors!

But just follow these few tips to purify the atmosphere and banish bad smells:

Frequent cleaning

We can’t say it enough: this part needs to be maintained frequently. Regular cleaning is the best way to keep your bathroom  smelling fresh. By properly cleaning the toilet, floor, sink, bathtub or shower, you will be able to eliminate a large amount of dirt and musty odors that stink the room.

Ventilation

ventilate the bathroom

Ventilation remains an essential point to allow the bathroom to remain adequately ventilated to avoid the confinement effect and the proliferation of bacteria. This is why it is essential to have a window   inside the room and, if you don’t have one, rely on a fan or ventilation system that circulates the air.

Opening the window will allow you to have good air circulation from inside to outside and vice versa, so that there is no humidity or too many fumes. It is also advisable to leave the door open when not in use to best promote air circulation.

Daily disinfection

Disinfection is also important to contribute to cleaning but above all to avoid the possibility of contamination by germs, bacteria and fungi. For better disinfection we recommend using an alcoholic spray and cleaning the most difficult and stained surfaces daily with a microfibre cloth.

air fresheners

Air fresheners are perfect to always keep in the bathroom. Of course you can buy them, but sometimes it is better and cheaper to prepare them at home. In this sense you can choose the ingredients that you like most or that you have on hand.

Remember: if you plan to make your own air freshener for your bathroom, always consider using citrus fruits that also act as disinfectants, aromatic leaves and sweet flowers. This will allow you to have a delicate fragrance in the room.

Cleaning the walls

Many people forget this cleaning step. However, it remains essential!

When it comes to the bathroom, this area must absolutely be cleaned thoroughly to avoid the accumulation of excessive humidity and therefore the development of fungi and mold. Be patient and meticulous because these are rather difficult stains to combat, but they can generate a very unpleasant odor over time.

Always pay particular attention to cleaning tiles and ceramics. Clean the smallest corners where dirt gets stuck. This is also often where bad odors dissolve!
