7 hotel tips to keep your bathroom sparkling clean
The bathroom is a real nest of germs and bacteria. For health and hygiene reasons, it is one of the rooms in the house that must be regularly maintained with great care. Don’t think that a quick, superficial cleaning will be enough to sanitize it. You must be patient to clean it thoroughly. Because, due to constant humidity and frequent use of water, lime deposits and mold are more likely to accumulate, which are responsible for bad odors and difficult-to-remove stains. And isn’t it more pleasant than snuggling in the bathroom or taking a good shower in a healthy and cozy environment?
When you go to a hotel, admit that one question often plagues your mind: What is the hoteliers’ secret to having such sparkling, fresh and fragrant bathrooms? When you enter the room or suite, you systematically take a look and are often dazzled by its cleanliness. Why shouldn’t yours be so flawless?
Tell yourself that a clean bathroom is not only pleasant, it is also safe and hygienic. Here are 7 hotel tips to make it easier to clean and keep it polished, elegant and radiant all the time!
1. Clean the toilet
The toilet is surely one of the places in the bathroom most prone to mold and lime buildup. Cleaning them frequently is a matter of hygiene, but it is not necessarily necessary to use chemical products to sanitize them. You surely have natural and non-aggressive ingredients at home that will do the job perfectly. Take, for example, baking soda: it is an excellent cleaner with degreasing, anti-mold and anti-limescale properties. It not only cleans dirt thoroughly, but also eliminates bad odors. Combined with lemon, which also deodorizes the premises and provides a sour smell, it is the ideal remedy to clean your toilets!
Mix 3 g of baking soda with 2 g of lemon juice and 10 ml of warm water. Pour the toilet and use a toilet brush to clean the inside. Finally, flush the toilet. This method is also useful for unclogging the toilet.
2. Clean the toilet brush
It is essential to clean this bathroom accessory, since it is constantly exposed to dirt, but also to bacteria and microbes that can be harmful to our health.
It’s very simple: just pour some boiling water into the brush holder, then add small amounts of baking soda, detergent, vinegar and salt. Soak the toilet brush in the solution for 5 minutes and then flush it down the toilet. Like baking soda, white vinegar is also highly recommended for cleaning your bathroom, as it is packed with stain-removing and degreasing properties.
3. Clean windows and mirrors
You often notice it: residue accumulates on the glass and annoying halos form. Ideally, you should clean your windows and mirrors daily with baking soda or alcohol. Use a microfiber cloth, apply some alcohol and wipe the glass. You will quickly find its shine and its beautiful transparency!
4. Clean the shower frequently
It goes without saying, but we must recognize that we tend to neglect this area a bit due to lack of time or simple forgetfulness. However, it is essential to get into the habit of applying a cleaning product regularly to prevent the growth of limescale and mold around the shower. This will allow you to avoid a more tedious deep cleaning.
To keep your shower clean, make a cleaner by mixing equal parts water and white vinegar. Spray the solution on the interior surfaces of the shower, then rinse with warm water. Remember that good bathroom ventilation is essential to avoid the accumulation of mold, especially in the shower.
5. Keep the roof clean
We don’t think about it, but it’s important to clean the bathroom ceiling! In fact, much of the humidity produced in the environment is deposited there, hence the almost inevitable formation of mold. To remedy the problem, use a combination of salt and baking soda to clean the roof at least 3 or 4 times a year.
NB: You may not know it, but salt is very effective at killing bacteria and mold. Thanks to its abrasive appearance, it removes all types of stains and dirt, even traces of tartar.
6. Clean the bathtub
The same goes for the bathtub: frequent application of a cleaning product avoids having to do a deeper and more laborious cleaning. The more you neglect its maintenance, the more difficult the stains will be to remove!
Mix 4 liters of warm water with a glass of alcohol, half a glass of vinegar and a tablespoon of baking soda. Pour the mixture into the tub and leave for 10 minutes, then rinse. Here is your clean and spotless bathtub!
7. Remove rust
In the bathroom there are many metal objects and accessories that, due to the constant humidity of the room, are exposed to the formation of rust.
To remove that annoying rust: mix salt and lemon juice, use a toothbrush to clean all metal surfaces. Finally, wipe with a clean microfiber cloth to remove any residue.
With these little natural tricks to polish and shine your bathroom, you will have nothing to envy of your hotel room!
