White and very clean pillows, no need for washing machine: grandmother’s method of dry cleaning them

By liliaturcin5

White and very clean cushions, whether on the bed or on the sofa, do not matter because they are basic and it is nice to be able to use them and show them off to their best advantage.

Dry cleaning of pillows

These  serve as head support  when you want to rest and relax. They are a very soft surface, but  also look beautiful on the bed or sofa. For this reason, all women in the world always want  to flaunt white and very clean pillows in their kitchens and bedrooms.

White and very clean pillows, so they get dirty quickly

Typically, pillows turn  yellow after repeated use  because they accumulate sebum and sweat and become easily soiled. They can even be washed several times a week, but they will immediately lose their good smell and clean, pure color.

Obviously it is impossible to wash them every day, it is not pleasant, especially in winter because they  do not dry at low temperatures.  If you dry them on heat sources at home, there is  still a risk of using or storing them while they are still damp.  The end result would be terrible because the pillows would  end up smelling damp rather than clean  .

Dry clean them, grandma’s advice

So the valid alternative is dry cleaning.  The practical and functional product comes directly from our grandmothers  , who are truly unbeatable when it comes to cleaning and free tricks. Everyone has bicarbonate at home, which is one of the allies that  no one could ever do without  . Baking soda is also excellent in this case as it  allows for very clean, white pillows in a very short time.

Among other things,  bicarbonate should be used in small quantities, without water  . The product allows you to disinfect and refresh the cushions by spraying the surface and leaving it to act for a maximum of an hour. If you want to achieve an even more interesting effect, you can  mix bicarbonate and oil drops of any scent together.  The result will be fabulous. To remove it after the installation time has elapsed  , use a brush or simply a vacuum cleaner. Bicarbonate is used because it has excellent cleaning and absorbent properties,  while the addition of oil gives the pillow a pleasant smell  and eliminates germs and bacteria.

Baby powder, another effective remedy for stains

A second remedy sees talcum powder as the protagonist, which has been used since ancient times to relieve redness on children’s skin, to combat irritation and sweat, and to dry out the skin’s moisture. In the same way and  due to the same suction properties  , it is able to absorb the grease from the cushions and eliminate all the stains.

Simply sprinkle the pillow with talcum powder and  let it sit for a few hours.  Then, as with bicarbonate, remove excess dust with a brush or vacuum cleaner, which is certainly more practical.

How to use vinegar and other natural products that we have at home

In addition to these two remedies, there is vinegar,  which refreshes the pillow and quickly eliminates bad smells. Then add some vinegar to a bucket of water, then dip a cloth in the solution and wring it out well, because it definitely shouldn’t be wet. To the resulting solution you can add a few drops of essential oil of your choice from different scents. Orange, mandarin and lavender are indicated, which also contribute to relaxation and sleep. Then run  the damp cloth over the cushion  and then let it dry in the sun or in the air.

Lemon and salt  should not be missing, as they have an incredible stain-removing and cleaning effect on all fabrics. In fact, lemon was once used to revive the natural whiteness of laundry, while salt is known for its excellent degreasing and antibacterial properties. Then mix the two products until a paste is formed, which you sprinkle directly onto the pillow in small amounts. We particularly focus on  removing stains with a damp cloth. Leave it on for an hour. After the required time has elapsed, it can be removed with a dry or otherwise clean cloth. Ultimately, the pillow looks like it was freshly washed or freshly purchased.

Marseille soap

The last resort for very clean, white pillows  is to use Marseille soap.

Only one glass of it should be poured into one liter of warm water.  Dampen a cloth with the solution  , wring it well and dab it onto the pillow. Then let it dry and the pillows will be perfect
