How to Cure a Geranium Ruined by Rain
If bad weather has damaged them, recover your geraniums.
Geraniums , as is known, are plants that live well even outdoors. For this reason, they are often present on balconies and terraces.
However, it is also a fairly delicate plant that can suffer damage if exposed to the elements .
So let’s see what to do in these cases.
- Rot : The main effect of rain on geraniums is to rot their roots. To detect this problem, keep an eye on the flowers and leaves: whether they are drooping, yellowing, or gradually falling off.
- Pests: some pests that affect this plant proliferate precisely in humid environments, for this reason make sure that the soil is not excessively humid.
- Prevent: If you know bad weather is coming, move your geraniums to a more protected location (as long as there isn’t an excessive change in temperature from one location to another). You can also cover them with special sheets to prevent the weather from ruining them.
- Ruined geranium: If the rain has already caused damage to your geraniums, there are a series of operations that can help you recover it. Tear out the roots and cut off the rotten ones, apply a natural fungicide to protect them, air dry it and replant it in a pot with draining soil.
