Soft hotel-type towels: use these 2 ingredients in the washing machine
It is the height of luxury in the bathroom , towels as if we were always in a large five-star hotel! An impossible dream? No, absolutely achievable, if you want to know how to continue reading.
Rough towels: what are the causes?
They are part of our daily life, towels are one of the basic elements of our bathroom, they wrap us at the end of a morning shower , preparing us favorably for a busy day at work.
But your touch can be unpleasant if it is rough like sandpaper! However, this is what we face if we do not treat our cotton sponges and bathrobes correctly.
When we go to buy them we pay close attention to making sure they are soft to the touch and have good consistency; they must be washed numerous times, often at high temperatures. That’s why you’ll always love them like the first day, but the detergents themselves can compromise their softness.
Many detergents, most of them contain elements that are rarely read once purchased, these are: surfactants, enzymes, bleaches and elements intended to sanitize and disinfect towels.
However, despite being intended for cleaning, the chemical components of these elements influence the sponge thread. To overcome this drawback, softeners are used, which also contain surfactants considered among the most toxic and polluting products we have at home.
How do fabric softeners work?
Basically, by coating the surface of the sponge with the chemical compounds that make it up, thanks to their electrical charge, they cause the threads to “lift” from the surface so that the fabric becomes softer and fluffier and increases its viscosity .
All of this inevitably ends up on our skin. That is why many people with delicate skin cannot tolerate them.
Super soft towels with only two ingredients
To combat the stiffness of towels, the cause is usually simply lime in the wash water. Lime deposits during normal washing slowly build up, fiber after fiber, and when the towel dries, they produce that stiff feeling that becomes rough over time.
For towels and all clothes, to make them soft and elastic, we can use totally natural products capable of turning our rough clothes into very soft towels in which to wrap ourselves pleasantly: white vinegar and lemon juice .
These two natural elements do not have the previous contraindications, and their properties not only prevent bad odors but also help terry cloth.
Vinegar, for example, does not allow mineral salts to become trapped in the fibers. To pre-wash our towels, 100ml of white vinegar is enough (dark vinegar doesn’t work!) and three lemons.
Once the lemon juice has been squeezed and filtered, it should be poured into the cold pre-wash together with the vinegar and then washed again without exceeding the amount of detergent. Finally they must be rinsed well. The drying phase is equally important, if the towels remain in the sun for too long they will tend to harden.
