Tanacetum balsamita, also called tanacetum or balsam chrysanthemum, belongs to the Asteraceae family. 

In Russia, it is also called Kanuper, Kanufer, Kolufer, Sarcinska mint. It is a fragrant, herbaceous perennial plant. 

Tanacetum balsamita is also found under the name “Bible Leaf” because in the passing centuries the herbarium (dried) leaf from it was used as a divider of the Bible.

Caloferche device

The balsam chrysanthemum reaches a height of up to 1.2 m, and sometimes up to 2 meters. 

In the spring, it begins its growth with the growth of a leaf rosette and a flower-bearing stem. 

The leaves of the herb are oval in shape and have a jagged leaf edge.

Blooms in summer with a yellow color. 

The flowers have the shape of baskets and are grouped several in an umbrella-like inflorescence.  The seeds of the herb ripen in July.

Distribution of caloferche

It is grown in Europe, Asia, America. 

It grows wild on rocks, but due to its actions and the active substances it contains, it is also grown in gardens. 

The plants are cold-resistant. It grows on all types of soil, the only condition being that they are moist and rich in fertilizer.

Usable part of caloferche

The aerial part of the plant is used – leaves and flowers. 

Calofercheto is extremely aromatic.  Collected during flowering. 

Drying should be done in a ventilated place protected from sunlight. After drying, the herb retains its color and aromas.

Chemical composition 

Calofercheto has a rich reserve of useful substances. For this reason, it is used for a variety of biological and therapeutic activities (spice, herbal tea, essential oil). 

Some of these compounds are essential oil, phenylpropane derivatives, flavonoids (powerful antioxidants), tannins and trace elements.

Medicinal properties and application of caloferche

Kaloferceto has been used as a spice for various types of food, cakes, drinks, as well as in confectionery since ancient times. 

Fresh leaves can be added to salads, pasta and various drinks. 

The colors can be added to jams, jams and preserves. 

It is successfully combined with eggs, seafood and lamb. 

Tanacetum balsamita was used as a tonic by apothecaries and was one of the herbs added to flavor beer in the Middle Ages.

The leaves of caloferche smell very pleasant – something in between jodgen and lemons. 

They are an ideal seasoning, you don’t need more than two leaves to flavor a dish.

Caloferche essential oil

The essential oil of the leaves and flowers of the balsam chrysanthemum is the most important active principle of this plant. 

The leaves contain a number of physiologically active substances such as calcium, potassium, magnesium, phosphorus and iron, vitamin C (ascorbic acid). The essential oil contains carvone, camphor, thujone, etc. 

Carvone is an antiseptic, central nervous system stimulant, antitumor agent, insecticide. 

Camphor has analgesic, pain-relieving, antioxidant, CNS stimulating, antitumor and antiseptic effects. 

Thujone has an antibacterial, pesticidal, insecticidal effect. 

The essential oil can be used in aromatherapy with an aroma lamp, as well as as a massage agent mixed with a base oil. 

It has a very good effect on skin diseases – eczema, rashes, pimples, acne. It has the following effects:

anti-allergic;

sedative;

cardiotonic;

gas powered;

hepatoprotective.

How to use and benefits

Infusion – about 5 grams of the miracle herb are stewed in 300 milliliters of boiling water. 

Then strain and use 100 ml three times a day before meals;

It can also be used externally for hemorrhoids.

Essential oil – applied to the above conditions, based on its effects.

Caloferchet has a calming effect and improves appetite. 

Calofercheto is a component of spring herbal teas, serving to purify the blood. 

Drink calofercheto as an aromatic tea – a few leaves in a glass of boiling water.

Kaloferceto is recommended for fibroids of the uterus, hemorrhages, uterine bleeding, cysts and mastopathy.

In case of excessive use, caloferceto exhibits a toxic effect.
